The Montessori Method of education was founded in the early 1900's by Dr. Maria Montessori. Through Montessori's years of observation and experience, she found that children thrive best through self-directed activities, collaborative play, and "hands-on" learning opportunities.
At Wellington, our curriculum includes experiences in: musical theater, instrument lessons, foreign language introduction, computer classes, cross-country running, and more.
The Basic Montessori Method focuses on four core principles:
1. Respect for the Child
2. Sensitive Periods (Stages) for Learning
3. A maintenance of our Prepared Environment
4. The daily encouragement of Independence and Discovery
The Wellington Montessori Priorities:
To help each child develop their natural potential
To support individualized learning and pacing through "one-on-one" teacher instruction
To encourage each student's success through hands-on learning opportunities
To prepare students for success in higher learning environments
To maintain an all-school philosophy which promotes:
enthusiasm for learning
kindness to others
an overall appreciation for life!
Through academics, arts, and extracurricular programs, Wellington students develop character, confidence and creativity. We believe integrity, compassion and strong relationships are paramount to lifelong happiness. Our school partners with families and together we create our supportive community which fosters opportunity and growth for all. Through our efforts, Wellington students receive an excellent education and become well-equipped to launch into a future of success!
